A state-run water meter supplier is to be fined Rs 3.25 crore by a court in Delhi over a false claim it would provide free water to its customers in areas of Delhi’s Kailash Nagar district.
The water meter maker, which has been fined for false claims in the past, has been asked to pay a penalty of Rs 3,000 crore by the city-based court.
In a statement, the water meter provider said it was committed to provide free drinking water to all its customers.
The company has been under investigation for years and it has been repeatedly accused of false and misleading claims, the court said.
The company was also fined by a Delhi court for misleading water usage in its meters.
