A new state water and electricity bill calculator for South Australia has revealed some surprising savings.
The calculator shows the cost of replacing one of the two water meters you have on your home, and how much the cost could be reduced if you replaced the meter with one of those free solar panels that can charge your phone, tablet and PC, rather than using a water pump.
Here’s what you need to know.
The South Australian Government has been working on a new water and utility bill calculator to help people better understand their bills.
It comes after a number of bills went unpaid after it became clear that the cost to the utility was not what it should be, as some were incorrectly billed for water.
The new calculator is based on the same information that was used to calculate the previous one.
The government is now working on making the calculator work on a wide range of meters, and has asked the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) to review its accuracy.
The State Government is also considering ways to simplify the bill.
The Australian Water Supply Association says the calculator should be simplified to “make it easier for consumers to compare different meters, or even find out where they are in relation to their electricity usage”.
It said the calculator was developed using a “common sense approach” to the costs of water and the cost per kilowatt-hour.
“This is the best way to reduce the cost, so it’s a great tool for consumers,” the AASA’s director of consumer engagement, Jason Farr, said.
“We would recommend anyone to use this calculator if they need to understand the difference between water and power, as well as how much it costs to replace one of their water meters.”
Mr Farr said there were two main factors in water bills, and that there were “no silver bullets” when it came to the water supply.
The first was the cost in terms of electricity, he said.
This included the cost for water and other energy used by your household, and the energy used to run your home.
We also have an annual gas bill of about $1,400 a year, which also includes the cost that is used to transport the gas,” he said, referring to the cost you pay to transport it to your home and back. “
In South Australia we have an average electricity bill of $5,600 a year.
We also have an annual gas bill of about $1,400 a year, which also includes the cost that is used to transport the gas,” he said, referring to the cost you pay to transport it to your home and back.
“The cost of water is a lot higher because of the way we use it, but that is also part of the cost.”
Mr Ferguson said South Australia was working on getting water meters fixed and new solar panels installed on all meters, so that the bill would be less expensive.
“South Australia has the lowest rates in the country, so this is great news for people who are struggling to make ends meet,” he added.
South Australian Water and Utility Minister Steven Miles said it was important for people not to rush to switch meters, as the water was being pumped from a new dam that has been built near the state’s border with Queensland. “
However, as this is still early days, and there are still a number issues with the system, the new calculator may not be the best tool for people to compare.”
South Australian Water and Utility Minister Steven Miles said it was important for people not to rush to switch meters, as the water was being pumped from a new dam that has been built near the state’s border with Queensland.
“That dam has been completed, but it is a long way off being ready for full operation.
The state government will continue to monitor the progress of the project and ensure it is fully operational by the time South Australia’s new water system is up and running,” he wrote in a statement.
“A water bill can vary significantly across the state.
While we recognise the complexity of water bills and that people have different priorities, we are committed to working with consumers to reduce costs, and we are working with the Australian Energy Regulator to review the efficiency of the system.”
Water prices in South Africa are among the highest in the world, according to the South African Water Association.
“Water bills in many South African communities are among one of South Africa’s highest,” the organisation said.
The SA Government’s Water and Electricity Bill Calculator is based only on information that the SA Government has collected from customers about the type of water meter they have on their home.
If you have one of these free solar energy panels, you can compare the cost with other meters.
If the water meter on your property has a “free” solar panel, the cost will be the amount that you pay for water, rather then the cost the meter would have if you had a pump.
